Sports Director

International Soccer Club

From the senior coach - Tony D'Agostino

It has been a difficult time for our soccer club and all grades involved and we are all excited to be back playing.

In regards to our A Grade squad, we had a fantastic pre-season, and were in a perfect position for the commencement of the season in March. We had played 2 pre-season matches, the first in late February against Metro Stars amateur team, and came away with a convincing 5-1 win. A few weeks later we travelled to Ballarat and took on their 1st division team Ballarat City, and we surprised most watching when we came out winners 8 - 0.

Since COVID 19 hit us, the season took a break,  and when we came back in May we were allowed to commence training. The restrictions made it difficult to train and coach but what wasn’t difficult was the enthusiasm shown by the players. From day 1 the seniors have been focused and prepared on getting ready to compete and hopefully take out the premiership again this year.

Unfortunately this season we have lost a few players. Dan Bronca who has decided to concentrate on work and studies, he will be missed by us all. He has been an integral part to our success, and we hope to have him back in 2021.

Sochree Htoo who played in our 2019 premiership winning team is having a year off, and lastly due to work and family commitments our long serving Captain Christian Cella has also indicated that he needs to have some time off. We hope that he will be able to rejuvenate and come back some time during this season.

On a positive, we welcome back premiership defender and player favourite Josh Grubb. Josh has continued from where he left off and looks in fine form to have a great season. With the young brigade improving every day and having more of an impact, including this year this most amazing and talented Kho Kho Htoo, we are quietly confident that we can go all the way in 2020.
